Stephan James Added To Honorees At Banff World Media Festival

Actor Stephan James was among the honorees at this year's Banff World Media Festival, which is to be held at Banff in Alberta, Canada, from Sunday, June 8, 2025, until Thursday, June 12, 2025.
The Canadian actor, best known for his roles in If Beale Street Could Talk and Surface, is to appear at the combined event for Gala Awards and Rockie Awards, held as part of the festival on Monday, June 9, 2025.
James received the Canadian Award of Distinction, presented by the Canada Media Fund and Made | Nous. The award exists to recognize individuals from Canada “whose body of work exemplifies outstanding achievement in the entertainment industry.” Past honorees have included stars from Canada, such as Simu Liu, Eric McCormack, Kim Cattrall, Sheila Hockin, and Jean-Marc Vallée.
The award was presented by James’s brother, actor Shamier Anderson. Also among the honorees at the Gala and Rockie event is Phil Rosenthal, who will be receiving the Award of Excellence. Additionally, the country of South Korea will be receiving a Country of Honor Award. The event is to be hosted by Canada’s Drag Race winner, Priyanka.
