Game Control: Nintendo Switch 2 release trailer, ‘Assassin's Creed Shadows’ delayed for a second time
Console: Nintendo has released a first-look trailer for the Switch 2. The console will be released in 2025, however, Nintendo will be hosting Experience events in many cities from April through May. Fans will be allowed to go “hands-on” with the console. YouTuber ‘Nate the Hate’ reported that Nintendo will reveal the second model of the switch on January 16th. He later stated that the Switch 2 may be officially released in May or June of 2025. Mario Kart 9 is also allegedly being released on March 3, with speculation that the Switch 2 will be released at the same time.
Microsoft has announced the games that will be included in the Xbox Game Pass in January. Road 96, which left the Xbox Game Pass in June 2023, will be included for all Game Pass Tiers. Other games include My Time at Sandrock, Robin Hood, and Rolling Hills. Diablo will be included on January 14th, however the game will only be available to Game Pass Ultimate, and PC Game Pass users. UFC 5 will also be available for Ultimate users only. Game Pass ultimate perks will include a weapon Charm for Apex Legends and DlC for several games.
Call of Duty’s multiplayer creative director Greg Reisdorf left Sledgehammer Games after 15 years. He worked on all Sledgehammer Call of Duty titles, starting with the development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in 2011.
PS Plus subscribers now have access to new games. All subscribers will have access to three new games, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.

Mobile: PUBG Mobile has released a version 3.6 update with an addition of new game modes, and other content. A new mode named Sacred Quartet will be available until March 5th. The themed mode will allow players to take on elemental trials to earn the sect’s secret treasure. A new panda Themed Vehicle will also be available to players. Three new map areas will be included, such as the Four Guardians Sect, Elemental Mastery Pavillon, and the hidden Mystic Enclave.
Call of Duty Mobile Season 1 launched on January 15, 2025, including many new features and Gameplay modes. Chase Mode will offer an unpredictable experience, and Carnival Shootout and Tank Battleground will also be available for players. The COD mobile update will also include an expansion to the Battle Royale Map called the Atlas Warehouse. Also, for the first time, players will be able to obtain Mythic and Legendary weapons blueprints for free, with the Secret Caches System.
Apple Arcade will be including ten new games for subscribers in 2025, with seven being available for players this month. Final Fantasy+, Trials of Mana+, and Gears and Goo, are some of the games that will be available for subscribers.

PC: Path of Exile 2 fans are upset because Elon Musk’s characters have allegedly been boosted. Some of his characters are extremely high level, which would make a player spend a long time achieving. Players doubt that between his companies and his involvement in the Trump Administration, he would have had the time to dedicate so much time to the game. The community is accusing him of having another player boost his account, or playing on another player's account. A recent X stream in which he appeared to not know basic information about the game has been used as evidence.
Marvel Rivals has been updated with new characters, maps, and rewards. With the Fantastic Four being included in Season 1: Eternal Night. The maps included with the new season are the Empire of Eternal Night, Sanctum Sanctorum, and Midtown. Another addition to the update mods will not be allowed in the game. NetEase considers mods a bannable offense so they made it much harder for players to include mods in the game. Players will no longer be able to easily add files to a mod manager, instead, they will have to have access to the game’s .pak files.
Ubisoft has delayed Assassin's Creed Shadows for a second time. Instead of February 14, 2025, the game is now expected to be released on March 20, 2025. The time will reportedly be used for the team to incorporate player feedback. This development comes as the company is in buyout talks with Chinese megacorp Tencent. The company will also be returning to Steam after a period of exclusivity to the Epic Games Store.

Virtual Reality: PowerWash Simulator’s VR mode will stop receiving updates, and DLC as the game cost Futurlab more than they were making on the VR mode of the game. The game will still be available for users to play, but updates will stop.
