Hard Numbers: Inauguration boosts Fox’s Numbers, ABC’s ‘20/20’ increases viewership

Cable News Networks: CNBC rose in ranking to the 63rd most popular channel, and during primetime on January 26, 2025 the channel averaged 124,000 viewers. CNN dropped to the 15th most popular channel on TV recording a 996,000 average viewers at the end of the month on January 31, 2025.

Fox Business Network increased in viewership and ranking to the 53rd most popular channel in January peaking at 133,000 average viewers on January 13, 2025. While Fox News Channel continued to be the second most watched channel garnering a peak of 6.349 million viewers on Inauguration Day.

The seventh most popular channel, MSNBC peaked at an average of 1.563 million viewers on January 31, 2025. Newsmax Tv is ranked the 25th most popular channel and reached 389,000 viewers January 26, 2025. NewsNation ranked as the 60th most viewed channel and averaged 165,000 viewers on January 2918.

News (Daily - Broadcast): ABC News Nightline averaged 934,000 viewers on January 19, 2025.CBS Morning peaked its viewership to 2.047 average viewers. 

Good Morning America continued to increase viewership and reached a peak of 2.905 million viewers in the month of January on the 19th. NBC News Daily reached an all-time high average viewership with a total of 1.596 million viewers on January 12, 2025.

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt increased its viewership from December by averaging 7.379 viewers on January 12, 2025. The Today Show averaged a high in January on the 12th with a total of 3.086 million viewers.

News (Weekend - Broadcast): ABC’s 20/20 went from a decrease in December to an increase in January on the 24th seeing a high of 3.214 million viewers. 60 Minutes ended the month with a decline in viewership dropping to an average of 6.099 million viewers on January 12, 2025.

Dateline NBC saw an increase of viewership this month reaching 2.754 million viewers; Meet the Press with Kristen Walker continues to have steady viewership seeing an average  2.543 million viewers on January 12, 2025.

News & Politics (Daily – Cable): Alex Wanger Tonight has continued to have steady viewership. The MSNBC's program reported an average of 900,000 people on January 14, 2025.

CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip the ninth most popular show on CNN reached a peak of 1.256 million viewers but has seen a decline of viewership since. CNN’s Laura Coates Live dropped in viewership to an average of 272,000 viewers on January 6, 2025.

Fox’s Outnumbered reached its highest viewership of 2.501 monthly viewers. MSNBC’s The ReidOut is currently the seventh most popular show on the network and reached a total of 708,000 viewers.

News & Politics (Weekend — Cable): Ayman, the fourteenth most popular show on MSNBC has seen its lowest numbers having an average of 362,000 viewers on January 25, 2025.

The Saturday Show with Jonathan Capehart saw an increase in views averaging 346,000 views on January 4, 2025. The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart continues to have low viewership averaging 292,000 on January 5, 2025

MSNBC’s PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton continues to increase since its lowest viewership last year, having 408,000 on January 4th and 331,000 on January 5th.

Talk Shows: GMA3: What You Need to Know, ABC’s 19th most popular show brought in an average of 1.676 million viewers on January 12, 2025.  Today the Third Hour on NBC in January reached its second highest average viewership of 2.434 million viewers. The View averaged 2.610 million views per episode during January which was (.83% rating) per episode.
