Netflix's newest series, medical drama Pulse, and murder mystery, The Residence, have both been canceled after just one season each. Pulse premiered on April 3, gaining 6.5 million views, which placed it in Netflix’s Top 10. Over time, the views increased to 8.5 million but then quickly declined, falling to 3.2 million and then 2 million.. The series was criticized for being a “poorly formatted narrative” with “an appalling depiction of sexual harassment,” and featured a few “insufferable characters,” which contributed to a lack of enjoyment for viewers.
The series starred Jessie T. Usher, Daniela Nieves, Néstor Carbonell, Chelsea Murihead, Justina Machado, Santiago Segura, Ash Santos, and Arturo Del Puerto. Zoe Robyn created the series and served as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Carlton Cuse, who also held the roles of co-showrunner and executive producer.
In March 2025, The Residence debuted with 6.4 million views, ranking number two on Netflix’s English TV Top 10. Critics favored The Residence significantly more than Pulse, giving it an 85% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Industry: CBS was recently involved in a lawsuit with Donald Trump and Ronny Jackson of Texas’s Northern District. The dispute arose from a segment of 60 Minutes, where Trump alleged that the network doctored an episode featuring former Vice President Kamala Harris. He claimed that the edited clips violated Texas consumer protection law by influencing voters' perceptions of Harris. CBS has settled the lawsuit, awarding Trump $16 million, which is significantly less than the $20 billion he sought in damages.
Although the network settled, they clarified that they did not issue an apology or express any remorse, which Trump’s lawyers had pushed for. Cheeks also noted the need to avoid “reputational damage” as a reason for agreeing to the settlement. A few of CBS News employees are worried that the payout could diminish the 60 Minutes brand. Despite the lawsuit, Paramount still plans to finalize its merger with Skydance Media.
