Hard Numbers: Fox News Channel increases viewership, ‘Ayman’ drops in viewership

Cable News Networks: CNBC is currently the 70th most popular channel on television and was watched weekly by 99,000 people on December 15th during primetime. CNN is currently the 14th most popular channel on TV recording a monthly high of 555,000 viewers during primetime on December 19th.

Fox Business Network is ranked the 84th most popular channel and earned an average of 118,000 people during primetime on December 15th. Fox News Channel is recorded as the second most-watched network on television and recorded 3.041 million viewers on December 17th.

MSNBC is currently ranked tenth in television viewership and was watched by an average of 590,000 viewers in the week of December 15th. Newsmax is currently the 42nd most popular channel on TV, watched by an average of 256,000 people the week of December 15th. NewsNation is the 89th most popular channel on TV seeing an average of 103,000 people during primetime.

News (Daily – Broadcast): ABC News Nightline finished December with an average of 840,000 viewers on the 29th. CBS Morning saw an increase in monthly viewers in November with a monthly average of 2.086 million, however, saw a steady decline ending the month with a weekly average of 1.761 million on December 22th.

Good Morning America reached a peak audience on December 1st with 2.808 million viewers. NBC News Daily peaked at 1.300 million viewers in December.

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt averaged 6.326 million viewers the week of December 15th. The Today Show peaked at the start of December with an average of 3.214 million viewers on the 1st.

News (Weekend – Broadcast): ABC’s 20/20 experienced a decrease of viewership dropping to 2.005 million viewers the week of December 27th. 60 Minutes Monthly ended the month with a weekly average of 8.736 million on December 22nd. 

Dateline NBC had two historical ratings during December seeing 2.279 million on the 13th and 1.802 million on the 6th. Dateline NBC ended the year with an average viewership of 2.373 million people per episode in 2024.

Meet the Press with Kristen Welker reached its second highest weekly viewership since the beginning of the broadcast in 2023. The week of December 8th, the broadcast peaked at 2.914 million viewers. 

Alex Wanger - Alex Wanger Tonight/msnbc

News & Politics (Daily – Cable): Alex Wanger Tonight has seen steady viewership since its decline in viewership in November. The MSNBC's sixth most popular program reported an average of 722,000 people on December 18th.

CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip is the third most popular show on CNN ending the month with 294,000 viewers on December 30th. The eighth most popular show on CNN, Laura Coates Live, increased its viewership after experiencing its lowest ratings with 322,000 December 6th. MSNBC's ReidOut recorded 992,000 viewers and it is currently the eighth most-watched program on its network.

Ayman Mohyeldin - ayman/msnbc

News & Politics (Weekend — Cable): The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart continues to have low viewership averaging 234,000 views on December 8th. The Saturday Show with Jonathan Capehart saw an increase in views averaging 343,000 on December 7th.

Ayman, the twelfth most popular show on MSNBC has seen its lowest numbers having an average of 219,000 viewers on December 8th.

MSNBC’s PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton has seen an increase since its lowest viewership of the year in November (304,000 viewers), having 364,000 on December 7th and 321,000 on December 8th.

Talk Show: GMA3: What You Need to Know, ABC’s 15th most popular show, attracted its highest-rated episode in the past two years bringing 2.643 million monthly viewers during its episode aired on December 22nd.  Today the Third Hour on NBC in December is averaging 2.036 million viewers. The View averaged 2.313 million views per episode during December which was a 3% decrease for the program.
