The Critics Choice Association has announced the details for their upcoming Celebration of LGBTQI+ Cinema and Television.

The event, to be hosted for the second time by comedian Sherry Cola, will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

The Critics Choice Association was set up to recognize outstanding achievements for the LGBTQI+ community within the entertainment industry. It is expected to feature over 20 performers, creators, and producers picked out from among the past year’s most acclaimed films and television shows.

Many honorees for the event have already been named. Among some of the biggest names is Bowen Yang, the long-running Saturday Night Live performer and comedian, who recently starred in the Academy Award-nominated film Wicked alongside Cynthia Erivo, and who will be receiving the Comedy Award from the Critics Choice Association in recognition of his work on SNL.

Actress and comedian Wanda Sykes, best known for Monster-in-Law and Black-ish, is set to receive a Career Achievement Award, having been a notable stand-up comedian for over 30 years, as well as previously being nominated as a Critics Choice nominee for their 2023 stand-up special on Netflix, I’m an Entertainer.

Niecy Nash-Betts is to receive the Groundbreaker Award in recognition of her breaking barriers through her various television roles, including in productions such as Netflix’s Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Reno 911!, and, most recently, in the FX horror series, Grotesquerie. Sasheer Zamata will also receive a Breakthrough Performance Award for their role in the recent Marvel series, Agatha All Along.

Meanwhile, Tramell Tillman will be honored with the Award for a Supporting Performance in a Drama Series for his role in the hit series Severance, which recently aired its second season to widespread acclaim.

“We are extremely proud to showcase both emerging and established LGBTQI+ talent and to shine a light on powerful work from this historically underrepresented community,” stated Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Association.

Jerry Nunn, Chairman and Founder of the Association’s LGBTQI+ Committee, added that “people flew in from around the world for the inaugural Celebration of LGBTQI+ Cinema & Television in 2024. This celebration sequel will honor every letter within a diverse pool of incredible queer talent.”

The event will be available for streaming throughout Pride Month in June, on Here TV, the oldest and largest LGBTQI+ streaming service in the U.S.
